5 Tips to Gain More Energy

February 15th, 2014 by Drew

Here’s a few tiparoo’s for you to get a natural pick-me-up everyday…

Sleep: I know what you’re thinking. That’s a no brainer.  Obviously I need to sleep more to gain energy.  Yes, but often times it’s overlooked either due to our hectic schedules or just not making the time.  Go for 7-8 hours and feel free to sleep even longer than that if you want to.  Your waking hours will be more productive and you will feel great. Also, go to bed by 10pm.  Our bodies start producing cortisol at 11pm which can give you a second wind and make it hard to fall asleep.

Stay Hydrated: Drink at least half of you body weight in water per day everyday. When we dry out, things stop working properly, so that is a great start on the road to perfect health and gaining energy.

Ditch the Caffeine: What?  Why would I stop drinking caffeine to gain energy? Well, caffeine will overwork your adrenal glands and deplete your overall energy overtime and ruin your health and even cause more stress in the long run.  Think about when you barrow money from the bank.  You eventually have to pay it back right?  Unless you have a super cool bank that doesn’t require payback.  It’s the same thing with our bodies.  The caffeine stimulates you and pulls the energy from somewhere, but eventually it must be payed back.

Stop eating processed foods: If the label has more than five ingredients or you cannot pronounce an ingredient, don’t eat it. Stick to whole foods.  Join the Winter Clean Eating Program to find out how you can easily do this and feel great.

Exercise: Get up and get moving.  Even a 10-15 minute walk can help get the blood moving and the mind stimulated.  If you’re sitting at your desk working on a project, get up every once in a while and take a walk around the block.  Not only will the exercise help, some fresh air will do you good.

Feel like you could use some more support with the above suggestions?  Join the Clean Eating Program and kick-start your energy in an easy sustainable way. Drew is a Board Certified Holistic Health Coach and will work with you to create a personal roadmap to perfect health.
